Kelowna RCMP vs. The People

There’s a trend I find alarming when it comes to officers’ use of force with citizens. There’s story after story of panicked reactions, excessive force and violence. This can’t continue, but how will it stop? I’d like to say “If this keeps going, someone will get killed.” Someone did get killed and it’s still going. I’d also like to forecast that “If this keeps up, we’ll be living in a police state.” Well, we tolerated that in Toronto for a few days already. When will we have enough?

You Don’t Take Debit, But You’ve Got An ATM Where I Can Get Cash For $2.50?

Something else I’ve noticed is that the two most attractive pubs on my block aren’t interested in accepting debit as payment. Steamworks and The Charles don’t accept debit cards.
I’m not a fan of throwing down my credit card everywhere I go, so I gave this a bit of thought – why might it be that debit cards are shunned?
